We were given breakfast boxes before
driving to the airport. Tom saved my life by having the anti-nausea meds I
couldn’t find in the middle of the night. They helped get me over the hump.
Myint Swe offered to take me to the clinic, but I said I’d be fine.
I hated to give up my bottle of water
at security since most of these small airports haven’t had shops past security,
so I carried it through the body scanner holding it out as they wanded me.
Miraculously, they didn’t take it. I must have looked like I needed it and they
let me keep it. Of course, this airport had 2 places selling things on the
other side. Greg got me a Coke, and I ate half the roll in the breakfast box. I
still felt weak but felt I was on the mend.
It was a one-hour flight to Yangon,
and we got checked into the Pan Pacific. Yangon was so different than the rest
of the country. It was a modern bustling city where motorcycles are banned by
the government in the heart of the city.
Luckily, we had a free day today and I
slept all day and still had some fever and chills. I went down to lunch with
Greg but couldn’t eat. I couldn’t even sit at the table as smells were
bothering me. I went back to bed and pretty much slept until the next morning.
Greg went next door to the mall and
got crackers and Pringles type chips and more Coke Zero in hope I could eat
something. While he was there, he checked out different places to eat for other
nights here.
Finally, I was able to eat a few chips and then about midnight I ate a few more and a couple hours later finished the can. Luckily, it was just a 24-hour thing. On the upside, at least it was good timing to be sick on a travel day with no touring planned.
Tomorrow, we have a full day tour of Yangon.
